Friendship Set to Music - Turning Strangers into Friends
VASARDA
MEMBERSHIP CORNER
One of the forbidden topics at a dance is politics. Politics, the science of government, is ultimately the process of guiding and organizing an otherwise unwieldy group. A topic that certainly is related to politics is voting. There is that old phrase, “you can’t complain if you didn’t vote”. The same is somewhat true of the Virginia Square and Round Dance Association (VASARDA).
VASARDA exists to promote wholesome fellowship, friendship, and fun through the various dance events held primarily in Virginia. Yet VASARDA cannot be successful without everyone’s help. It must cover the cost of the Zoom license for meetings, the software to create newsletters, the software for flyers, the server to host the website, the various forms of advertising, the promotion of dances, clubs, callers, cuers, instructors, and other events in Virginia and the surrounding area. It all does add up, and that list is far from complete.
Even though inflation has raised the price of everything, VASARDA has kept to the same membership fee for decades. For the low, low, suggested minimum donation of just $5 per person, you become a member of VASARDA for a year. Meanwhile, you also have the satisfaction of knowing that every dollar you contributed is used in helping not only Virginia clubs and dancers but extends outward as it makes people aware of the opportunities in Virginia and elsewhere. But wait, there is more! By becoming a member, you also can participate and vote in the annual meeting. Which means you not only can help promote dancing, but you can help determine the organizational approach for advocating dancing, improving the State Convention, supporting new clubs, callers, cuers, instructors, and even accomplishing the various behind the scenes tasks that contribute to enhancing the dancing experience.
So, if you are already a member of VASARDA, thank you. If you have been blessed with financial resources consider making an extra donation or paying the membership of someone that you enjoy dancing with, or both.
If you are not already a member, please join today as we seek to continually improve the events and experience for dancers in Virginia, and ultimately beyond.
